In the rural burg of "Hickman", located in the heart of the Ozarks, most all of the townfolk have a special "fillie" or two in their barn. Lately however, Sheriff Owens has been getting an earful about all the commotion at the nearby drinking bar. Seems Billy Bob Hickman, son of the founder of this town, and the local hardware store owner, Emma Mae Stevens, have been causing a ruckus as to who's fillie is the fastest in the county.

Now Billie Bob claims his pony "Windy" is by far the faster, but Emma Mae tends to disagree saying her "Swift Sweed" could win any challenge.

So the Sheriff decided to have a face off between the two and it became the buzz all over town. The race is at the clearing at the southern edge of town. It will be a quarter mile to the twin oaks, around the trees and back to the start. First sulky that passes the Sheriff's starting position wins bragging rights for a year and the other clams up...

The Race is this Sunday, after worship. Reverend Patterson and the ladies auxillary will have a table set up for a bake sale. Proceeds go to the purchase of new hymnals. Y'all be there now, hear.
