Shaft assemblies

The shaft assemblies are the parts where the pony can be hitched to the cart. This drawing is of the simplest arrangement. A U shaped shaft assembly with a cross pipe at the front can be used which allows for the pony to “push” the cart. Other arrangements may allow for more than one pony to be hitched to the cart, in a side by side arrangement or in an in line or front to back arrangement.

The only parts which are different from the parts used in other assemblies are the 45 degree elbow and the cap fitting. The 45 degree fittings allow for upward and inward positioning of the shafts. Longer or shorter pipes can be substituted for the 12 inch pipe to raise or lower the 24 inch shafts to allow for taller or shorter ponies.

The point marked D on the drawing is the point marked D on the front assembly drawing and is the place where the shaft assembly is screwed on to the front assembly.
